Omo-Agege Resigns from APC, Cites Political Differences

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, citing recent political developments within the party in Delta State as reason for his resignation.

The resignation, which takes immediate effect, was conveyed in a letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of APC, Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, the former senator said the decision followed extensive consultations with political associates and supporters.

According to the statement, Omo-Agege disclosed that his political aspirations and the interests of his constituents would be better pursued outside the APC.

“After reviewing recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consulting with his associates and supporters, it is clear that his political objectives and those of his constituents are better served outside the party,” the statement read.

The former governorship candidate stressed that he could no longer remain in a political platform where he was unable to effectively pursue the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and the country.

“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” Omo-Agege stated.

He, however, expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate.

“I thank the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate. I wish the party well and have requested that my name be removed from all membership records, registers, and communication lists,” he added.

Omo-Agege affirmed that his priority remained delivering development and effective representation for the people of Delta Central and Nigeria, noting that he would continue to pursue those goals outside the APC.
