Former president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has urged Nigerians to use the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir to drive a “national rebirth” rooted in personal sacrifice and unity.
In a statement on Wednesday, signed by Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan’s Media Adviser, he extended Sallah greetings to Muslims in Yobe North, across Nigeria, and worldwide.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a “timeless, divine tutorial on the supremacy of faith and the profundity of obedience.”
“In the sublime act of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to offer his dearest possession, we find the eternal metaphor for our national journey,” he said.
According to Lawan, the prophet’s example holds a lesson for the country today.
“It teaches us that the path to a greater collective destiny is paved with the stones of personal sacrifice, faith, and submission to the will of the Almighty,” he stated.
The Yobe North lawmaker called on leaders and citizens in positions of influence to put the nation first.
He challenged them to “sacrifice the comfort of personal gain for the enduring edifice of national progress, unity, and peace.”
Lawan also asked Nigerians to embrace compassion, which he said defined the life of Prophet Muhammad.
He urged citizens to confront national challenges with “the patience of Hajar and the resoluteness of Ibrahim.”
The former President of the Senate further called for prayers for the country’s leadership.
“Let us remain resolute in our prayers for our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, our leaders and institutions,” he said.
Lawan expressed hope for Nigeria’s recovery, saying: “Through steadfastness, our season of bountiful rain and rejuvenation is near,” he added.
