Sanwo-Olu Hails Peaceful APC Presidential Primary In Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held across the state, describing the exercise as a reflection of the party’s strong internal democracy.

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke shortly after casting his vote at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele, on Lagos Island, where he participated alongside his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

The governor praised party members, electoral officials and security personnel for ensuring a smooth and transparent process, noting that the direct primary system allowed grassroots membership to freely choose the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, the large turnout witnessed at the ward level across Lagos State showed the unity, strength and growing acceptance of the ruling party among members.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that no fewer than 1,887 party members had already been accredited at his polling unit before his arrival, describing the turnout as impressive and encouraging.

He expressed optimism that the exercise across the 245 wards in the state would end peacefully without disruption.

The governor also applauded party officials and electoral officers for the level of organisation and coordination observed during the exercise, adding that members conducted themselves responsibly throughout the voting process.

Sanwo-Olu further revealed that before proceeding to his polling unit, he accompanied Presthe ident to cast his vote at Ward L2 in the Ikoyi-Obalende area of Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

Party members across Lagos State participated in the APC presidential primary election under the supervision of electoral officials and security agencies deployed to monitor the exercise.
