Sen.Wadada Wins APC Gov’ship Primaries In Nasarawa


Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Nasarawa State.

Wadada polled a total of 195,285 votes to defeat his closest challenger, former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, who scored 39,675 votes in a peaceful election held on Thursday across the state.

Announcing the results of the primary election on Friday in Lafia, the Chairman of the Nasarawa APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Prof. Theodore Bala Maiyaki (SAN), said the election was conducted peacefully and transparently across the 13 local government Areas of the state.

“I, Professor Theodore Bala Meiyeki, (15:02) Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chairman of the Governorship Primary Elections Committee, hereby certify as follows. One, that I’m the returning officer for the Nasarawa State Governorship Primary Elections that were held on the 21st day of May 2026.

Two, that the aspirants who contested these primaries received the following votes. One, I will start from below. Tanimu Adabson, 64 votes.

Two, Dr Fatima Abdullahi Ademu, 136 votes. Three, Dr Neman Hassan Mohammed, (15:56) Senior Advocate of Nigeria, 863 votes. Next, Zakar Lekwi, Yakubu, PhD, 396 votes.

Next, Professor Mohamed Sani Haruna, 5844 votes. Next, Mohamed Ademu Abubakar, 39,675 votes. And last but not least, Senator Ahmed Aliu Denyaya Wadada, 195,285 votes.

In view of the foregoing, therefore, Senator Ahmed Aliu Denyaya Wadada has satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and has scored the highest number of votes cast at these primaries.

He’s hereby declared the winner of the primary elections and is returned, elected and nominated as the party’s governorship candidate for Nasarawa State”

He appreciated the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state led by Dr Aliyu Bello, security agencies in the state led by their heads, members of the election committee, civil society organisations, party agents and journalists for their various roles in achieving what he described as a hitch-free election in the state.
