Presidency: APC Fails To Reach Consensus Agreement, Adopts Direct Primaries


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced guidelines for the conduct of its 2026 presidential primary election.

In a statement issued by Felix Morka, APC national publicity secretary, he said the party also approved the composition of the presidential primary election committee, appeal committee, and state coordinators.

Morka stated that the decisions were approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) in accordance with the APC constitution and the Electoral Act.

“The decisions were approved by the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in accordance with the Constitution of the Party, the Electoral Act, and APC’s commitment to transparent and credible primary election process,” the statement reads.

A business tycoon, Stanley Osifo, had obtained the presidential form at the cost of N100 million, vowing to slug it out with President Tinubu.

In another statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, he said the direct primary will be held in each of the 8,809 wards across the country.

According to him, the results of each ward comprised in each of the 774 local government areas will be collated by the local government collation officer to be appointed by the state coordinator, and a collation officer appointed

by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party The party stated that all registered members would be eligible to vote for their preferred candidates across the country’s 8,809 wards.
