Gov Idris Consolidates APC Leadership In Kebbi

The commitment, guidance from party elders, and determination to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 led to the successful conduct of National Assembly primary elections through consensus.

All aspirants agreed to withdraw their letters of intent, and the consensus candidates were accepted by the group.

The affirmation of the three APC senatorial candidates was then held simultaneously in Birnin Kebbi for Kebbi Central, Kamba for Kebbi North, and Zuru for Kebbi South.

In a statement issued by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero was presented as the candidate for Kebbi Central, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi for Kebbi North, and General Jafaru Muhammad Gajere (rtd) for Kebbi South.

Governor Nasir Idris said that beyond the party’s guidelines, he set up a high-powered committee headed by former Governor Ambassador Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari to meet with aspirants and secure a rancour-free consensus.

He announced that the committee achieved its goal, with all aspirants withdrawing unconditionally and adopting the consensus candidates. Governor Idris thanked the aspirants for their cooperation, saying their decision would strengthen unity within the party and across Kebbi State.

He urged them to remain steadfast in supporting the administration’s development agenda and expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would continue to deliver infrastructure, economic empowerment programs, and improved security.

The governor also stated that his administration’s focus on socio-economic turnaround gives him confidence that the APC will win in 2027.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, expressed gratitude to stakeholders and party members for their loyalty to Governor Idris and the party’s leadership at all levels.

The presentations were made by Governor Nasir Idris for Kebbi Central, Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar for Kebbi North, and Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida for Kebbi South.

Comrade Muhammad Garba led the party’s national appeal committee, while Barrister Attahiru Maccido chaired the affirmation committee.
