Women Groups In Ila Federal Constituency Reject Party Primary

Women groups in three local government areas in Osun State yesterday kicked against the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s prevention of aspirants to House of Representatives tickets for the Ila Federal Constituency from a field contest.

In a statement by the coordinators Jamiu Fatimo, Tawakalitu Suleiman and Zainab Ajara, the group expressed disappointment over the emergence of the House of Representatives candidate of the party.

They said: “The acclaimed consensus arrangement was adopted without proper negotiation, consultation, or a democratic primary election process.

“As women and committed supporters of Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin, we believe the voices of loyal party members and grassroots supporters deserve to be heard and respected at all times.

“He has remained one of the strongest pillars of the APC in Ila and beyond. “At a time when the party structure was weak and struggling politically in many areas, he stood firmly with the people, invested his resources, mobilized supporters, empowered party faithful, and helped rebuild confidence within the party.”
