Ekiti House Of Rep Aspirant Demands Cancellation Of APC Primaries Results

Calls for Fresh Election

An All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirant for the House of Representatives in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 2, Barrister Victor Kolade, on Sunday, has called for the cancellation of the outcome of the primary election conducted in Ekiti state on Saturday.

This is as the House of Representatives aspirant demands a fresh election in the interest of democracy.

The aspirant, who lamented that his supporters have been arrested and remanded over what those behind the arrest gave as the reason, non-compliance with the Party Supremacy, expressed dissatisfaction with what is happening in the ruling party in the state.

Speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti to state his discontentment with the process of the election, he said, “To the best of my knowledge, I would say that the exercise is a filthy one, a very filthy exercise, disappointing, and above all, I mean, there’s nothing quite encouraging to write about it.

“I will tell you most sincerely that 99% of party faithful did not expect what actually transpired in the state. We witnessed several primaries.

“There’s something critical, something quite disappointing that happened, which makes one wonder what is going on at my party? Is this how we are going to face the future? This is a very terrible situation.

“I’m using this opportunity to call on all well-meaning party stakeholders to think about what happened yesterday. It’s not the best.

“The party has rules and guidelines, and definitely, any discontent party might, for one reason or another, ask each other questions, which are laid down by the party. So, after the election, there’s an appeal committee. If you feel satisfied, then you can take the next step.

“Whether I have confidence or not, the important thing is that I have to explore those avenues provided by the party. This is a must.

“I was awarded some votes, which is actually what transpired yesterday. I was a candidate for the three local governments, but they awarded me 2,000 votes. And they awarded the supposed winner, now 6,000 votes.

“Obviously, what transpired yesterday was not the intention of President Timubu. When he said that party members should go for the direct, how can we renew our hope when the foundation is faulty? We are starting on a very wrong foundation.

“A very, very wrong foundation built on fraud. When people are open, and you don’t let their views, you suppress them. Definitely, the law of nature is going to, if you don’t meet it now, you meet it somewhere else. You don’t suppress the voice of the masses.”

The aspirant who urged his supporters to remain calm called for peace among his loyalists.

“You have several opportunities within our laws to take advantage of. They should maintain peace. Virtually all over Nigeria yesterday, for the primaries, there was no election. Nothing like that.

“You have a situation where figures brought in by the INEC do not correspond to the figures released by the party. Figures brought in from the field do not correspond with figures released by the parties.

“So, I’m wondering whether the results they announced today were a result monitored by INEC. And I’m even wondering whether the result announced by the party was a result signed and probably, in agreement with the results that INEC has.

“The results announced today should be cancelled. And another primary election should be ordered where justice will prevail. And where it will not be seen, as if we’re having an election or the government is having an election against the aspirants. Because, like yesterday, it was as if the governor was a contestant against the rest of us.

“There was no accreditation. I wasn’t accredited. I’m joining my colleagues to say I’m not accepting the results. Its shameful and shoddy”, the aspirant said.
