Ojudo LCDA Chair Urges Youths To Support Tinubu’s Reforms

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. David Odunmbaku, has urged Nigerian youths to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the administration’s reforms are already producing positive results across the country.

Odunmbaku also encouraged young people to take active roles in politics and governance in order to contribute meaningfully to national development.

As contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ayodele Olalere, the council chairman made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Lagos State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), led by its chairman, Olalekan Adigun, at his office in Ojodu.

Speaking during the meeting, Odunmbaku advised youths not to remain on the sidelines criticising government policies, but instead engage constructively in the political process and become agents of positive change.

According to him, President Tinubu has introduced several youth-focused initiatives, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), while noting that the removal of fuel subsidy is beginning to have positive impacts on governance and development.

“As youths, you need to reposition yourselves. We are in the era of social media, so you have the opportunity to claim what is rightfully yours. In my whole life, I have not seen the kind of policies the current president is implementing and I salute him for his bravery,” Odunmbaku said.

He cited ongoing developmental projects within Ojodu LCDA as evidence of the benefits of the reforms, revealing that the council is currently renovating five primary healthcare centres, with three set for commissioning simultaneously.

“Over 60 per cent of our population are youths. Which president has done NELFUND like President Tinubu is doing? As youths, don’t be perturbed; be firm with your voices and convictions because if we don’t correct it, no one will correct it for us,” he added.

Odunmbaku further assured the youth council of continued support for youth-oriented programmes and initiatives in Ojodu LCDA.

Earlier, NYCN Lagos Chairman, Olalekan Adigun, commended Odunmbaku for what he described as a transformational approach to grassroots governance.

Adigun said the visit was also aimed at introducing the council’s “Back2Street” initiative, a programme designed to sensitise youths against drug abuse and cultism while promoting voter education and civic responsibility.

He praised the chairman’s empowerment programmes and youth development efforts, noting that Ojodu LCDA stands out among the 57 local government areas and LCDAs visited by the council.

“One thing that sets you apart from a lot of grassroots administrators is that you invested heavily in lifting people out of poverty. You have empowered youths in areas where they have capacity and executed several empowerment programmes. The news of your good performances in Ojodu LCDA is everywhere and we commend you for all you are doing,” Adigun stated.
