Rep Aspirant, Okuyiga Rejects Outcome Of Primaries In Ekiti

Faults Elections as “sham, lacking credibility”

A Member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and aspirant for Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, Hon. Teju Okuyiga, has rejected the outcome of the House of Representatives primaries conducted on May 16, 2026, in my constituency.

Okuyiga, in a press release on Sunday titled “Rejection of the Sham Ekiti South Federal Constituency II House of Representatives Primaries of May 16, 2026″, described the exercise as “a sham and fell far short of the minimum standards for a free, fair, and credible party primary.”

Okuyiga, who highlighted her areas of concern in the process, categorically stated that, “Electoral process was not followed. Party guidelines for delegate accreditation, voting, and collation were openly disregarded in multiple wards.

“Figures were allocated: Results were announced in several wards where no voting took place.”

Okuyiga further alleged that, “No election in most wards: In a significant number of wards across my 3 constituencies, there was no voting, no ballot papers, and no opportunity for delegates to exercise their franchise.

“Targeted suppression: The process was manipulated to disenfranchise supporters and undermine my candidacy as the only female aspirant in this race.

“This was not an election. It was a coordinated effort to subvert the will of the people and set a dangerous precedent for internal democracy within our party and for Ekiti State.

“When party leaders actively work against inclusion and gender representation, it weakens our party’s credibility and alienates the very people we seek to represent.”

Okuyiga therefore, called on the National Working Committee of the APC, the Presidency, and all relevant authorities” to urgently review what transpired and uphold the wishes of the delegates who voted for me. Democracy cannot thrive where allocation replaces voting and where gender is used as a basis for exclusion.

‘I remain committed to due process and to pursuing every lawful and party-approved channel to ensure that the mandate freely given to me is respected.

“I thank my supporters, party faithfuls and the women of Ekiti South Federal Constituency II for standing firm. The struggle for fair representation continues, and we will not be silenced”, Okuyiga said.
