The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Electoral Committee for the House of Representatives in Ekiti State on Sunday announced the outcome of the results of the elections.
This came as the committee declared the results in the Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 uncompleted over an electoral crisis said to have occurred in the area.
Sunday Telegraph had earlier reported that the APC Primaries election took place on Saturday, 16th May, across the country.
In Ekiti State, the House of Reps primaries were conducted in six constituencies.
Announcing the results to Journalists at Amor Hotel in Ado Ekiti, the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ashipa Wasiu Adedoyin Banjo, declared the incumbent Federal lawmaker for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, Hon.Olusola Fatoba, winner, having scored the highest vote of 8,943 to defeat his close rival, Ayodele Oluwafemi, who polled 4,122 votes.
In Ekiti Central Constituency 2, Oladapo Thomas Karunwi scored the highest votes of 6,573. to defeat his closest Victor Kolade, who scored 2,096.
In Ekiti South Federal constituency1 Okoro Toyin Zaccheaus, who scored the highest votes of 9,798, defeated the incumbent and the close rival, Rufus Ojuawo, who polled 1,842 votes, and emerged the winner.
In Ekiti South Federal Constituency 2, the incumbent lawmaker, Femi Bamisile, scored the highest votes, 4, 379 and was declared the winner.
At Ekiti North 2 federal constituency. Ibrahim Olanrewaju polled the highest votes of 6,856 to defeat the incumbent Akinlayo Kolawole, who scored 2,102 and emerged the winner.
The electoral Committee Chairman, however, announced that the election in Ekiti North Federal constituency 1 was not completed due to a crisis that occurred during the process in the area.
“We are all aware that we have six federal constituencies. Ekiti North 1, which comprises Oye and Ekole, is going to be handled by the National Working Committee of the party. There were pockets of crisis in some of the votes yesterday, and the process was not completed.
“As a result of that, I will not be announcing any results for the Oye and Ekole federal constituency. There is no window for Oye and Ikole in the timetable given to us.
“It is the National Working Committee that can decide what to do, whether they will send another committee to come and conclude the job, or they will send us back.
“Tomorrow is for the Senate, and we will not want to overstep our bounds by doing what we are not allowed to do. That is not part of our instruction”.The chairman said.
