Ihonvbeve, LP Lawmaker Loses APC Ticket In Edo

Two serving members of the House of Representatives from Edo State, Julius Ihonvbere and Esosa Iyawe, have lost their bids to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets for the 2027 National Assembly elections.

Prof. Ihonvbere, who represents Owan Federal Constituency, was defeated in his attempt to secure a third term return to the House of Representatives.

Saturday Telegraph gathered that his ambition reportedly faced opposition over an existing political arrangement between Owan East and Owan West which limits representation in the constituency to two terms per zone.

However, a former Commissioner for Mining, Andrew Ijegbai, emerged victorious in the primary election with a total of 3,695 votes.
