Adamu Atiku, son of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has officially declared his intention to contest the Adamawa South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement announcing his ambition, Adamu said his decision followed months of consultations with constituents, political stakeholders, and supporters across the senatorial district.
He disclosed that he will run on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, citing growing calls for experienced and people-focused representation as a key motivation for joining the race.

Adamu also confirmed that he has obtained his nomination form, marking the formal commencement of his senatorial campaign.
According to him, the ambition goes beyond personal interest, describing it as a collective movement aimed at fostering unity, driving development, and ensuring effective representation for the people of Adamawa South.
His declaration comes weeks after his resignation from the cabinet of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, following the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress.
