Nasarawa Police Confirms Abduction Of Six Varsity Students 


The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six students of the Nasarawa State University’s campus in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Six students of the Faculty of Engineering were reportedly kidnapped at the Gudi campus of the university at about 21:00 hours on Wednesday.

Confirming the incident in a press statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the command received a distress call over the incident, saying a combined security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria police, Department of State Service (DSS), the Nigerian Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Vigilant group an other tactical unit of the state police command had been deployed to track down the abductors and reacue the victims.

The Police Public Relations Officer explained that upon the receipt of the report of the incident, the Commissioner of police, CP Shetimma Jauro Mohammed, visited the scene of the incident at Awgwan Ninzo in Gudi, where he assured students, residents and the university community of the commitment of the police to rescue the victims.

Urging the public to remain calm, vigilant and be security conscious, the statement appealed to anyone with usefu informed that to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts to report to the nearest police station for necessary action.

“On 6th May, 2026, at about 210021:00 hourse, Command received a distress call reporting that a group of unidentified armed hoodlums stormed a students’ lodge located at Anguwar Ninzo, Gudi, on the outskirts of the town. During the incident, some students were reportedly abducted and taken to an unknown destination.

“So far, six victims have been identified, all of whom are students of the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, alongside one other victim who was reportedly visiting one of the students at the time of the incident.

“Following the development, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, psc, mnips, immediately visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and reassured students, residents, and the university community of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safe rescue of the abducted victims.

“To strengthen ongoing operations, the Commissioner of Police has redeployed the Area Commander, Akwanga, to coordinate field operations in the area pending the rescue of the victims. In addition, a combined security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilante groups, and other tactical units of the Command has been deployed to intensify efforts aimed at tracking down the abductors, rescuing the victims unhurt, and bringing the perpetrators to justice

“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and security conscious, while appealing to anyone with useful information that could aid the ongoing operation to promptly report to the nearest police station or any other security agency” the statement added.
