Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has revealed that he would suspend his musical career for two months to campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid, ahead of the Osun 2026 Gubernatorial election.
Davido made this revelation on Tuesday, May 5, during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team in Ede, Osun State.
According to the award-winning musician, the decision is aimed at strengthening grassroots political mobilisation in support of the governor’s second-term bid.
Addressing members of the Mobilisation Team, Davido said he was committing his time and influence to secure victory for Governor Adeleke

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle, but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done.
“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youth.”
He urged members of the mobilisation team to embark on intensive grassroots engagement across all local government areas in the state.
“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively,” he added.
