CFAO Mobility Invests in EVs and CNG Vehicles in Nigeria

CFAO Mobility Nigeria is expanding its investments in electric vehicles and compressed natural gas options as part of efforts to align with shifting trends in Nigeria’s automotive market and reduce carbon emissions.

A statement from the firm on Tuesday stated that the Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Nigeria, Denis Martin, disclosed this during the 2026 CFAO Mobility Open Day in Lagos.

He said the company is investing in cleaner technologies, including electric vehicles and CNG-powered trucks and buses, while also deploying solar energy solutions across its facilities.

Martin noted that the strategy reflects the need to adapt to evolving market conditions and regulatory changes in the mobility sector. “There is a lot of volatility, but there are also opportunities to grow and innovate,” he said.

He added that the company’s portfolio of 14 brands positions it to respond to changing customer preferences and market dynamics.

The event featured brands distributed by CFAO Mobility in Nigeria, including Toyota, BYD, Mitsubishi Motors, Suzuki, Yamaha, Fuso, JCB, Howo, King Long, Toyota Material Handling, TechKing Tyres, Winpart, and Auto Fast.

Speaking on the company’s performance, Martin said the Open Day, now in its second edition, reflects operational progress. “We held the first edition a year ago, and now we’re hosting the second. It’s clear we’ve made significant improvements, which is very encouraging,” he said.

He said the company is focusing on customer retention through after-sales services. “It’s not only about selling a car. What is important is keeping it running throughout its lifespan,” he said.

Martin also disclosed plans to introduce new models across its product lines as part of expansion efforts. He emphasised that improving fuel efficiency remains a priority, noting that Japanese brands continue to lead in low-consumption engine technologies.

The managing director highlighted the need for an enabling policy environment, including duty considerations to support the adoption of hybrid vehicles, which he described as effective in reducing carbon emissions.

He added that the company’s operations are supported by its presence in 38 African countries and backing from Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

CFAO Mobility operates in Nigeria’s automotive market and is part of a broader group with over 120 years of presence in the country across mobility and healthcare sectors.
