Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has ordered rapid intelligencedriven response to curb the rising wave of criminality of phone snatching in Asaba, the state capital. The governor said Intelligence Units of relevant security agencies would b thoroughly reactivated and deployed for targeted interventions.
He said he will not allow criminal elements to undermine the state’s reputation for safety and public order. He said this when he received protesting dealers at Government House in Asaba yesterday.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, acknowledged the seriousness of their protest and insisted on the commitment of the governor to protecting lives and property. He stressed that the government had already begun activating strategic security measures aimed at decisively addressing the threat.
The SSG, however, cautioned that emerging patterns suggest possible insider-game in some of the attacks, noting that such a dimension requires careful, intelligence-led operations.
He said: “We will address this situation decisively. In a matter of weeks, the impact of our interventions will become evident, Certain security strategies will remain confidential to avoid compromising the ongoing efforts and ensure maximum effectiveness.”
