Councillors Present N50m Gov’ship Nomination Form To Gov Aliyu

The 244 councillors from the 23 Local Government Areas (LGA) of Sokoto State, under the platform of the National Council of Councillors Forum of Nigeria, have purchased a N50 million nomination form for the re-election of Governor Ahmad Aliyu.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, the Sokoto State chapter Chairman, Hon. Nura Umar Goronyo, said they were motivated by the quality of good governance being experienced in the state.

He presented a dummy cheque for N50 million to the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna S.G. Adiya, for onward presentation to Governor Aliyu on Monday at the party headquarters in Sokoto.

According to him, as grassroots leaders closest to rural dwellers, they were compelled by the volume of developmental projects and human capital initiatives of the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration, hence their resolve to unanimously support him.

“The purchase of this form is a manifestation of our appreciation for the good works of the current government.

“We are very pleased with the programmes, initiatives, and policies of the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration.

“And I can tell you for certain that no one in Sokoto today is unhappy with the government, except those who dislike good things or non-objective opposition figures,” he said.

Speaking on the leadership qualities of others seeking election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Councillors’ Forum chairman, Alhaji Nura, reassured that they are comfortable with their pedigrees.

Responding to the gesture, the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Hon. Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, said the entire state is in a joyous mood seeing the 244 councillors come together to buy a form for the governor to continue his good works.

“According to you, as those closer to the masses, we are convinced that you have all witnessed the good works in your respective areas,” he said.

“We are pleased to hear such testimonies from you. And I can assure you that the governor will continue to do more when re-elected in 2027.”
