I’m Only APGA Aspirant To Beat Obi’s Candidate; Okoye Boasts

Frontline House of Representatives aspirant of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye has boasted that he is the only APGA aspirant who has the political sagacity, financial muscle and grassroots appeal to defeat candidates of other political parties, including the incumbent, Prof. Lilian Obiageli Orogbu, who is in the same party with Mr Peter Obi.

Rt. Hon. Okoye, who is the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, made this assertion on Sunday, May 3, in Awka, the state capital, when he interfaced with members of “Anambra Patriots”, a political support group in the state.

The deputy speaker told his audience that he has served Awka Constituency 2 meritoriously for 8 years, delivered on the mandate and, therefore, wished to extend quality representation to Awka North and South federal constituency.

He said, “APGA primary election comes up May 23. I count on your support. Having represented well as a member of the state assembly, I want to elevate to the House of Representatives to do greater works for my people.

“I assure you that I’m the only APGA aspirant for this particular position that has the political strength, grassroots appeal and sound track record to beat the incumbent lawmaker.”

Reeling out his past achievements, the lawmaker said that he has made numerous interventions in the areas of education, health, sports, human capital development, pipe-borne water, rural development, among other things, adding that if given the opportunity to represent the federal constituency in the House of Reps, he would multiply his achievements.

Okoye, who said that he left signature projects in all the 7 communities under his present constituency, insisted that 80% of projects he executed in 8 years as a lawmaker were done using his personal resources.

He added that he is aspiring to go to the House of Representatives, not to emerse public wealth for himself, but to use the office as a platform to further help his people.

“Before I went into politics, I was always there for my people. As a member of the state assembly, I’m always there. Therefore, you should ensure that you elect a representative who will always be there for you, not the one who will disappear with your mandate,” he added.

Earlier, Coordinator of Anambra Patriots in Awka South Constituency 1, Hon. Charles Nweke, described the aspirant as an astute lawmaker, who has impacted positively in the lives of the people through constituency projects, impactful legislation and human capital development.

He added that the state lawmaker is eminently qualified to represent the federal constituency in Abuja.

Also in his own remarks, Coordinator of Anambra Patriots in Awka North LGA, Hon. Samuel Okoye, praised the aspirant for his “intimidating track record in politics.”

Hon. Okoye, who is a former President General of the Amanuke community, assured that Anambra Patriots in Awka North will support his aspiration.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the National Chairman of Anambra Patriots, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi (also known as Ozo Ejiamatu N’Anyi and Ejiamatu Nise), clarified that Rt. Hon. Okoye came to interface with members of Anambra Patriots in three state constituencies making up the Awka North and South federal constituency, viz: Awka North, Awka South 1 and Awka South 2.

Chief Ejiamatu emphasised that Okoye possesses the qualifications and capabilities necessary to effectively represent the interests of his constituents in Abuja.

He also recalled that as Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okoye demonstrated considerable leadership and dedication.

He highlighted several of Okoye’s accomplishments, noting how the lawmaker utilised his good office to initiate and oversee a variety of impactful projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents within his constituency.

Among these initiatives, according to Chief Ejiamatu, were the provision of boreholes to enhance water accessibility, distribution of vehicles as incentives for church and local development, and significant investments in education, sports, agriculture, and human capital infrastructure.

Chief Ejiamatu further painted a picture of Rt. Hon. Okoye is a dedicated lawmaker whose previous experiences and successes make him a suitable representative for the federal constituency.
