President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga has taken a swipe at former presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi following reports of his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday.
In a reaction obtained by Sunday Telegraph in Onanuga’s social media page, he described Obi as a “political nomad,” alleging that his move was driven by personal ambition rather than principle.
He also questioned Obi’s ability to compete for the party’s presidential ticket against figures like Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi.

The presidential aide further claimed that Obi tends to avoid internal political contests, opting instead for what he described as an “easier path,” while also accusing him of frequently criticising the government without self-reflection.
Onanuga however welcomed Obi to the 2027 presidential race.
Obi’s departure was announced on his verified social media platform on Sunday, 3 May, 2026 months after his alignment with the party following his exit from the Labour Party, adding a new dimension to ongoing political realignments ahead of 2027.
