The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, has congratulated journalists across the state on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, commending their dedication, resilience, and commitment to professionalism despite challenges confronting the media industry.
In a statement issued by the Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin and Secretary, Comrade Olalekan Akindoju, the union described journalists as critical stakeholders in the promotion of democracy, accountability, and good governance.
The Council praised journalists in Osun State for their courage and commitment to balanced, factual, and responsible reporting, stressing that their sacrifices in the line of duty remain invaluable to societal development.
The NUJ called on organisations, government institutions, and relevant stakeholders to improve the welfare, safety, and working conditions of journalists, emphasising that a free, motivated, and protected press is essential for democratic growth and national development.
The Council further urged journalists to remain committed to the principles of accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and integrity in carrying out their professional responsibilities.
While wishing journalists in the state a peaceful and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, the union reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests and welfare of media practitioners in Osun State.
