…Adamawa Police Command sympathize with the victims of attacks
Following the renewed insurgent activities in Adamawa State, the State Government has reiterated its resolve to strengthen security through closer collaboration with the Nigerian Army.
Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, gave the assurance on Thursday while receiving the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam E. Abubakar, during a courtesy visit to her office.
Professor Farauta, who stood in for Governor Fintiri, expressed appreciation to the military delegation for their solidarity with the state, particularly in the wake of recent attacks that claimed the lives of innocent citizens.
She emphasised that the government remains resolute in its duty to protect residents and maintain peace.
“I want to thank the military for taking time to be in Adamawa to condole with us; we are most grateful, adding, “Adamawa is a safe haven, and the government will do everything necessary to ensure the state remains secure”.
The deputy governor further assured continuous support for security agencies, noting that the state would sustain investments in human capital development and information and communication technology (ICT) as part of efforts to enhance security operations.
Earlier, Major General Abubakar said his visit was part of an operational appraisal aimed at reviewing and strengthening the state’s security architecture.
He noted that the assessment would focus on improving response times and developing effective early warning systems.
He also conveyed condolences to the government and people of Adamawa State on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, over the recent killings.
“I want to convey my condolences to the people of Adamawa State over the loss of innocent citizens. It’s a serious concern, and that is why I am here under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff”, Abubakar said.
“We are conducting an operational appraisal to see how to rejig the security architecture, particularly to improve response time and establish early warning mechanisms”.
Our Correspondent reports that the visit underscores ongoing efforts by both the state government and the military to curb insurgency and restore lasting peace in Adamawa.
Similarly, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 3, Yola, Kunle Adeniran, in company with the Adamawa State Police Commissioner, Kabir Umar Hassan, has visited Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State to assess the security situation following the recent attack in Tela Bala in Guyaku district.
The visit is part of the ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police to strengthen security presence, evaluate operational deployments, and reassure residents of the commitment of security agencies towards restoring lasting peace and stability in the affected Areas.
During the visit, the AIG and the CP paid a sympathy and condolence visit to the Kumu of Gombi, His Royal Majesty Aggrey B. Ali, over the unfortunate incident and sympathised with families affected by the attack.
They also carried out an on-the-spot assessment to evaluate the security situation and review measures emplaced to forestall further security breaches.
While condemning the attacks, the AIG assured residents that the Police, in collaboration with the Military and other security agencies, remain fully committed to protecting lives and property across the State.
He further directed officers and men deployed in the area to sustain aggressive patrols, visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, surveillance operations, and effective collaboration with members of the public to enhance prompt response to security threats.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while encouraging them to support security agencies with credible and timely information that will aid the ongoing operations.
The Adamawa State Police Command reassures members of the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all residents.
