FCT Monarchs Hail Tinubu’s Transformation In Abuja

Demand three Senatorial seats

Traditional rulers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday hailed President Bola Tinubu for transforming Abuja’s rural communities and urban areas with different developmental projects.

This is even as the monarchs also demanded the creation of an additional two senatorial seats for the FCT.

The Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Dr Adamu Baba Yunusa, who spoke on behalf of the monarchs in Abuja during an appreciation rally organised by FCT Indigenous people and stakeholders, said that Tinubu has done what many previous presidents couldn’t do.

”Considering the population of the FCT… we think that FCT deserves more than one senatorial district,” Yunusa stated.

Also, the monarchs called for the creation of additional Federal Constituencies, the establishment of more Area Councils to decentralise governance and bring development closer to the grassroots.

The monarchs appealed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to help FCT Indigenous people and residents in tabling the demands they’ve made to the president.

The Council also sought the Minister’s intervention in rectifying the FCT’s lack of representation on the Board of Trustees of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), asserting their right as a key stakeholder state within the commission.

In his speech, Wike, who was also honoured with a chieftaincy title of “ Haske” meaning “ Light of FCT”, by the Monarchs, urged the stakeholders to remain committed to supporting Tinubu’s administration.

Wike, while assuring them that the President will consider their demands, also called on the people to demonstrate their love for Tinubu during the forthcoming general election.
