Niger Farmers Endorse Gov Bago, Rep Abdullahi For 2nd

Present Nomination Forms To Lawmaker

Niger State farmers under the umbrella of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) have endorsed Governor Umar Bago and Hon. Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi for re-election in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

As a confirmation of the endorsement, the farmers have purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms for the governor and the lawmaker to enable them to participate in the primaries and the general election.

Presenting the nomination form to the lawmaker, who represents Bida/Gbako/Katcha federal constituency, at the National Assembly, the farmers stated that they purchased the forms to show their appreciation for the enormous attention and contribution to agriculture in the state by the lawmaker and the governor.

According to them, Hon. Abdullahi is a great asset to all the state farmers. He has engaged in numerous activities of easy farming activities in the state and has single-handedly constructed an irrigation facility in Badeggi, and has gone further to create an expansion in Begi.

In his address, the Deputy National Financial Secretary, Poultry Association of Nigeria and the vice chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Niger State, Muhammed Saba Usman, said that they purchased the forms for the duo to appreciate their track records in agricultural transformation in Niger State.

He said, So, for us, we are looking at track records. We are looking at what you are doing as far as agriculture is concerned. I know you can see a lot of transformation and re-engineering of agricultural activities in Niger State, which is being propelled by our former governor, ably assisted by Hon. Musa Abdul.

On his part, the former Secretary of AFAN and Secretary of All Green Agro-Field Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria, said the group of farmers came together to show their solidarity for the support given to farmers in Niger State.

He noted that, since the inception of Niger State in 1976, it has never had a Governor who has given emphasis to agriculture like Governor Bago through his agricultural policies.

Also speaking, the Director General (DG) of the Micro Credit Agricultural Cooperative Agency, Hassana Mohammed, stated that the agency was created by the governor because of his interest in women being fully engaged in agriculture.

She said, “A lot is coming through there from the governor and the SMA. He has done a lot. We want to encourage him because when you take a lot, you give what you can give, so that you expect more. You can’t be Oliver Twist without giving anything. We want to appreciate him.

On his part, the vice chairman of Alpha Niger State, the national president of All Green Farmers, Dr Nura Hashim, said they came on behalf of the farmers of Niger State to say thank you to the lawmaker for the good work he is doing that is helping the farmers’ governor, as well as the president.

Dr Hashim, who is the national coordinator of All Farmers Alliance for Tinubu Renewed Hope Re-election, said all the farmers of Niger State deem it fit to show their appreciation by purchasing the forms for the House of Representatives member as well as the governor.

Responding, Hon. Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi, appreciated the farmers for the gesture and assured them that he will continue to support them in any way to utilise the vast agricultural potentials of Niger State as projected by Governor Umar Bago.

He said, “I think there is nothing that can be more gratifying to the mind than what we have seen here this evening. We are like ambassadors, messengers of the people. They have sent us here to come and represent them. We’re going all out to ensure that we do not disappoint them.

“It was born out of confidence. Their confidence in us is what brought us here. We have tried to make the most of the privilege, the real privilege of representing them here.

“Even today, I have a serious engagement with some major stakeholders in the country. I met with the vice president. I met with the minister of finance. It’s all centred. The discussions we had were centred on how we can improve the lives of our people. As a government, we are concerned.

“You know, the government has embarked on very, very necessary reforms. We’re interested in seeing that the results of the reforms start trickling down to the grassroots. So, we’re working together with major stakeholders to ensure that the right thing is done for the betterment of our people”.
