A seasoned journalist, broadcaster and businesswoman, Oluwanifemi Kazeem, has declared her intention to contest for Alimosho Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kazeem made the declaration on Wednesday shortly after concluding consultations with party leaders in the constituency.
Speaking with journalists, she said her aspiration reflects a growing demand among residents for younger, approachable, accessible, and development-driven representation in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
She promised quality representation, adding that she would operate an open-door policy to ensure constituents are actively involved in the affairs of the constituency.
“I am coming into the race with a full understanding of the workings of the constituency, the state legislature, and the various interests of our people.
“Alimosho I is very important to the All Progressives Congress in Lagos. We have a huge voting population, largely dominated by women.
This group deserves robust and effective representation. Women should have a stronger voice in our constituency, and I am ready to serve as that voice,” she said.
Kazeem hails from a political family. Her father, Alhaji M. Kazeem, is a notable figure, while her mother, Hon. Olabisi Kazeem, previously served as a councillor in the area on the platform of the Progressive People Alliance (PPA).
She was raised in the Abule Oki area of Iyana Ipaja, where she attended Alimosho Primary School and Alimosho Secondary School for her early education. Driven by her passion for learning, she proceeded to Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) for her tertiary education and later attended the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Training School.
With over two decades of experience, Kazeem has worked with several reputable media organisations, including Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT and RayPower, Television Continental (TVC), and City People Magazine.
Her extensive experience covering the Lagos State House of Assembly has given her deep insight into public governance, policymaking, community development, public engagement, and leadership.
