Tangwami Joins Adamawa Guber Race, Promises Reform


A former Commissioner of Health under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Chief Felix Tangwami, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief Tangwami officially announced his ambition to vie for the governorship bid to bring positive change for the citizens at a press conference held in Yola.

According to Tangwami, governance is a continuum, and progress has been made, it’s wise, just and beneficial to the people that such progress be sustained and improved upon.

He reiterated that across infrastructure, healthcare, security, economy and civil service reforms “We have seen commendable strides that deserve continuity not abandonment”.

Speaking extensively on health, the former Health Commissioner said, “I’ve seen the vigour, determination and the zeal to create a society of State where health and healthy conditions rule in the affairs of the citizens”.

“I’m committed to consolidate on these health gains by continual strengthening of primary healthcare systems while focus will also include maternal and child health care, disease and prevention with modern medical infrastructure among others”.

He emphasized that, he will institutionalize open governance where citizens can hold their leaders accountable, adding as a servant -leader, I am ready to build on existing achievements, ready to unite our people and ready to deliver a future Adamawa State.

Also, Community Leaders and Women groups from Tambo/Bakopi District in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State have thrown their weight behind the governorship aspiration of Chief Felix Tangwami, expressing full support and passing a vote of confidence in his candidacy.

Speaking, the Galadima Mbula and retired Assistant Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Alexander Barunde, said the visit reflected unity and collective commitment to Tangwami’s ambition.

Barunde stated that the group was fully prepared to mobilise support across the district, stressing that their backing for the aspirant was unwavering. Similarly, the governorship hopeful also met with a forum of former Local Government council Chairmen, where he sought their backing and highlighted his experience in governance.

He emphasised his long-standing involvement in public service and the need to sustain ongoing development efforts in the state. Responding on behalf of the forum, former Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Hon. Sahabo Aliyu, described Tangwami as a leader known for fairness and inclusiveness, assuring him of the group’s support.

In a related engagement, Tangwami met with members of the Adamawa Social Movement, a youth-based group drawn from across the state.

The group’s leader, Rabiu Mohammed Sale, described the aspirant as a leader with a track record of equity and inclusiveness, urging continued commitment to youth development.

With the APC primaries approaching, Tangwami’s campaign continues to attract endorsements and solidarity visits from various groups across the state, reflecting growing political momentum ahead of the contest.
