Group Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sponsored Moves Against Jibrin

The Kano State Coalition for Good Governance, advocating for the continuity of Senator Barau Jibrin, has raised alarm that some disgruntled elements with dubious motives were hired to distract their principal’s re-election bid.

Speaking during a Press conference at the Kano Press Centre on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Group, Mukthar Tukur Gadanya, hints that they have passed a vote of confidence on Barau Jibrin and no amount of treacherous moves will succeed, adding ” we cannot go for a greenhorn against the Person who overperformed”.

“We have credible information that substantial resources have been mobilised to challenge Senator Barau Jibrin in the 2027 elections; they should know we are confident that Barau will make it back despite their negative positions”.

He said they have uncovered the large plot by some disgruntled elements both within Kano and beyond to thwart the efforts of re-electing Senator Barau, despite the fact that they knew his performances and positions in the scheme of Nigerian politics.

“These undesirable elements no doubt seek to impose their will to only serve their selfish agenda of perpetuating their anti-Kano people interests, but it is important to remind them that Senator Barau’s representation has served its purpose and continues to do that”.

Gadanya explained that it is important to mention that Barau Jibrin’s position is in line with the cardinal principles upon which democracy, as the best system of government, was institutionalised.

“Senator Barau Jibrin has transformed legislative representation to people-oriented laws, impactful empowerment programmes and numerous Infrastructural and human development initiatives.”

“He has sponsored nearly 50 bills aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He sponsored the Northwest Commission bill, Federal University Kabo, Scholarship, establishment of power stations in Bichi, Dawamau and Kabo, Study Centres of the National Open University, and so many other projects”.

He said these developments and a host of others explained why the people of Kano North support and demand Barau Jibrin’s continuity beyond 2027.
