Glovo, the technology platform, will host the second edition of its Future of Commerce Summit in Lagos as it seeks to deepen conversations around the evolution of digital trade and the role of small businesses in Nigeria’s economy.
The event, scheduled for 22 April at the Landmark Events Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, is expected to bring together policymakers, government stakeholders, entrepreneurs and industry executives to discuss trends shaping commerce, logistics and digital platforms in Africa’s largest economy.
The summit comes as technology companies and logistics platforms increasingly compete for a larger share of Nigeria’s fast-growing e-commerce and quick-commerce market, driven by rising smartphone penetration and shifting consumer behaviour.
Interim General Manager of Glovo Nigeria, Reni Onafeko, said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on supporting small and medium-sized businesses, which account for a significant portion of employment and economic activity in the country.
“We are deeply committed to empowering local businesses and creating opportunities for SMBs to thrive in an increasingly digital economy,” Onafeko said in a statement.
“Nigeria’s commerce ecosystem is evolving rapidly, driven by innovation and a new generation of entrepreneurs.”
She added that the summit would focus on how digital platforms can help scale businesses across cities and improve access to markets through technology-enabled infrastructure.
The 2026 edition builds on the inaugural summit held last year, which centred on the role of digital platforms in expanding access to commerce opportunities for small businesses.
Glovo operates a multi-category on-demand platform that connects users with restaurants, retailers and grocery providers, positioning itself within the broader shift towards quick commerce services in urban markets.
