Contractor Petitions RCCG Leadership, EFCC Over Contract Disp

Acontractor with Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Mr Samuel Oluwafemi Abio- dun‑Oni, has submitted petitions to the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), raising concerns about contract awards at the institution.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Abiodun‑Oni said he had worked with the university since 2011, initially assisting in resolving land disputes during its expansion.

He explained that following negotiations, he was occasionally considered for building contracts; an arrangement he said lasted through the administrations of some former Vice‑Chancellors.

According to him, disagreements began after the appointment of Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele as Vice‑Chancellor in December 2023.

He alleged that in early 2024, a construction contract was processed in a manner he considered irregular, despite the requirement for projects to pass through the institution’s tender process.

Abiodun‑Oni claimed that about 14 contractors were invited to bid, but that two contracts were eventually awarded to companies he believes are linked to the same director.

He said he raised his concerns with the VC and later submitted a petition to RCCG’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, copying the university management. He further stated that an investigative panel was set up by the university to review the matter.

According to him, the panel recommended suspension of the projects, but he alleged that work later resumed. Abiodun‑Oni said he had since written additional petitions to the church leadership and the University Council, and also reported the matter to the EFCC.
