PSC, Anambra Police Partner To Increase Recruitments

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and Anambra State Police Command have announced planned to work hand in hand in a bid to increase the number of Police recruitments in the state.

New Telegraph recalls that both the Command and the Anambra State government had lamented over the small number of young men and women that show interest in the recruitment, stressing the need for more of them to join the force.

In the past, the slot for Anambra Police recruitments has always been filled by recruits from neighbouring states, which, to the neighbouring government, is not a welcome development.

Disclosing this in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the synergy was reached during an oversight inspection of the representatives of the Commission and that of the Federal Character Commission to the South East geopolitical zone

According to Ikenga, the team was led by the secretary of PSC Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, who came to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted in line with established guidelines.

“The visit forms part of the Commission’s oversight responsibility to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted in line with established guidelines, with emphasis on transparency, fairness, and merit”

” During the tour, the PSC Secretary assessed the screening procedures and interacted with officials, including the Police team, the Police Service Commission team, Federal Character Commission representatives, as well as other relevant stakeholders”

“He noted that the Commission will continue to collaborate with the Command to improve sensitisation efforts and encourage more indigenes to join the Force”

“He further commended the level of organisation and professionalism displayed by the Anambra State Recruitment Screening Team”

Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the highest standards throughout the exercise.

He noted that all necessary measures have been put in place to guarantee a credible and hitch-free recruitment process.

The Command further assures members of the public that the exercise remains transparent and strictly merit-based, while urging applicants to adhere to all laid-down guidelines.

He reiterated that the Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacity and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
