Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda yesterday signed an executive order aimed at tackling the rising wave of criminal activities, especially thuggery (Kauraye and Sara-suka) in the metropolis. Radda said a mobile court has been set up for the immediAiyedatiwa ate trial of defaulters.
The governor added that the signing of the executive order marked another decisive step in the state government’s renewed security efforts. According to him, the state government had earlier set up a task force committee on the prevention of criminal activities and related offences, 2026.
He said the move was necessitated by growing con- cerns over insecurity and the urgent need to restore public safety. Radda noted that the task force committee would comprise representatives from key Nigerian security agencies as well as Hisbah and other relevant ministries.
He explained that the team had been mandated to identify, track, and dismantle criminal networks operating within the state, using intelligence-driven strategies.
According to him, the task force will also be responsible for seizing illegal weapons and other dangerous instruments used in perpetrating crimes, while ensuring that suspects are promptly prosecuted through designated mobile courts.
