Soun’s Planned Visit To Oyo Community End In Crisis

There was pandemo- nium in Ikoyi Ile, the headquarters of the Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State yesterday, over the planned town hall arrangement of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, with the residents of the town.

Since his ascension to the throne on December 19, 2023, Oba Olaoye has been holding town hall meetings in the Ogbomoso zone of Oyo State.

However, when it was the turn of the Orire LGA, which was scheduled for yesterday, the Ikoyi Ile people opposed the planned meeting. Meanwhile, some Baales in the council have encouraged Oba Olaoye to visit the town being part of his land.

However, according to New Telegraph’s investigation, some youths of Ikoyi Ile stationed themselves at the entrance to the town along Ogbomoso Road to stop Soun and his entourage. As a result, the youths sent back the vehicles carry ing the canopies and chairs to be used at the meeting.

Fracas therefore ensued when some hoodlums, allegedly from Ogbomoso, arrived in Ikoyi Ile to clear the way for the Oba’s entry, but they were met with resistance from Ikoyi Ile people.

Speaking with his people in front of his palace as shown in a viral video, the Soun said: “I have with me some Baales and their Oba numbering about 20 from Ikoyi Ile, who came to me for support.
