Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday hosted his Adamawa State counterpart, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for the commissioning of key infrastructure projects in Balanga Local Government Area.
The visit featured the inauguration of major road networks, including the 33-kilometre Ture–Sabon Layi Awak–Dogon Ruwa–Gelengu–Balanga Gari road with a spur to Bakasi–Balansani–Dasan Buzu, as well as the Talasse–Degri–Bembelem road.
Governor Fintiri, who performed the commissioning, praised Yahaya’s administration for delivering impactful projects, noting that the infrastructure would boost connectivity and economic activities across the state.
The two governors also commissioned a Model Almajiri (Tsangaya) School in Bakassi, aimed at integrating traditional Islamic education with formal learning.
At Talasse, they inspected an off-grid solar mini-grid project designed to provide electricity to underserved communities.
The facility, being executed under a public-private partnership involving the World Bank, Gombe State Government and Balanga Local Government, is expected to generate one megawatt of power for over 30 communities.
Officials said the project, currently at about 80 per cent completion, would supply uninterrupted electricity and improve livelihoods in the area.
