Oyo Speaker, Alao-Akala, Sanusi, Ors Nominated For OYSMAYA Award


The organisers of the Oyo State Man of the Year Award (OYSMAYA) have nominated the Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebowale Ogundoyin, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao- Akala, Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Architect Bamidele Samson of BOVAS Group and Chief Olanipekun Onifade for the maiden edition of the 2026 award.

In a press statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the Chief Coordinating Officer of OYSMAYA, Dr Aderemi Ifaolepin Aderemi, the award was conceptualized and designed as a credible way of celebrating and paying tribute to excellence, as well as, bring about a platform to identify, recognize and project to the world, genuine role models who have done so well for humanity and the growth of democracy in Oyo State.

He explained that an awardee will emerge through a participatory voting process of deciding the winner among five distinguished nominees, through short message service (sms), within a period of seven days.

“Oyo State Man of the Year Award (OYSMAYA) was conceptualised, organised, and objectively designed as a credible programme of celebrating and paying tribute to excellence, and also created in essence as an Award Platform to identify, recognise, and project genuine Role Models in Pace Setter State.

“An Awardee shall emerge through a very credible participatory voting process of deciding the eventual Winner (among the five distinguished nominees), which shall be conducted through Short Message Service (SMS) for a period of 7 days (Monday, 13th to Sunday, 19th of April, 2026) by texting AWARD followed by the name of the preferred choice to 08077707333). And the participation shall be opened to Oyo State residents in particular and the general public worldwide.

“The results/reports and winner shall be announced and published thereafter, while the announcement and publication of the details of the elaborate and grandiose conferment ceremony will follow shortly. This project shall be effectively promoted through media appearances, mass media hype, and newspaper advertisements.

“The nominees for the Maiden Edition of the enviable Award are: Rt. Hon. Adebowale Edward Ogundoyin, Honourable Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly; Hon. Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala, Member, House of Representatives, Ogbomoso North, South and Oríire Federal Constituency; and Chief (Engr) Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Bada Olubadan/CEO, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort.

Others are Arch. Bamidele O. Samson (JP), Chairman, BOVAS Group and Chief Olanipekun K. Onifade, Asiwaju Awo Oyo/CEO, Onis Global Concept,” Aderemi stated
