Champion Breweries redeems N15bn commercial paper

Champion Breweries Plc has fully redeemed its N15bn inaugural Commercial Paper issuance, following the repayment of its Series 2 N10.78bn notes, which matured on April 1, 2026.

The firm announced in a statement on Thursday that the latest repayment comes after the company settled its Series 1 N4.22bn Commercial Paper in December 2025, completing the full redemption of the oversubscribed issuance launched in July 2025.

The company said the successful repayment reflects its strong liquidity position and consistent track record of meeting investor obligations. It added that both Series 1 and Series 2 issuances attracted diverse participation from institutional investors, signalling strong confidence in Champion Breweries’ financial position, strategy, and growth outlook.

Commenting on the development, the Chairman of Champion Breweries Plc, Mr Imo-Abasi Jacob, said the milestone underscores the company’s disciplined financial management and long-term strategic focus.

“The successful redemption of our series 1 and 2 commercial paper issuance reflects the strength of our financial position and the confidence investors have in our business.

It demonstrates the strength of our governance and the resilience of our business.

As we look ahead, we remain focused on executing our growth strategy, driven by a consumer-led approach and responsible innovation, while continuing to deliver sustainable value to all stakeholders.”

The company noted that since establishing the Commercial Paper Programme, it has demonstrated the ability to engage the debt capital markets with credibility, reinforcing its reputation as a reliable issuer.

It added that this positions the company to leverage future funding opportunities as it continues to pursue growth initiatives.
