Police Arrest Three Armed Robbers In Lagos Night Patrol

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers during a routine night patrol operation in the Idimu area of Lagos State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement issued on Friday, said the operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m., when officers on patrol along Car Wash Bus Stop by First Bank intercepted three men riding on a motorcycle.

The suspects were identified as Abdullahi Mustapha (20), Salisu Sannusi (30), and Jamiu Sahidu (26). A search of the suspects reportedly led to the recovery of a machete concealed on them, an army camouflage uniform, four mobile phones, a power bank, and some cash suspected to have been stolen from victims. A Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AKD 40 OM was also recovered.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had allegedly been involved in a series of robberies targeting unsuspecting members of the public before fleeing the scenes on a motorcycle.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, said the arrest demonstrates the Command’s continued commitment to tackling crime and ensuring public safety across the state.

“The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another operational success in its ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the State,” he said.

He added that the command will sustain its patrols and intelligence-driven operations to disrupt criminal networks.

“We are committed to safeguarding lives and property across the State,” the Commissioner said, urging residents to support security efforts by providing timely information.

Fatai also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of their alleged criminal activities and ensure prosecution.
