Oyo Assembly Endorses Speaker To Succeed Makinde


The members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed the Speaker, Adebowale Ogundoyin, to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2027 general elections.

The motion for Ogundoyin’s endorsement was moved by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Fadeyi, during plenary on Wednesday, April 8.

During plenary, the Deputy Speaker noted that he and his colleagues have resolved to mobilise the people of the state to support Ogundoyin, who he described as a stabilising force within the legislative arm of government in the state.

He added that the Speaker has what it takes to succeed Makinde in 2027.

This is even as the majority leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin, in his presentation, described the Speaker as a leader who has demonstrated capacity beyond expectations.

Other lawmakers at the plenary also supported the move, noting that the Speaker’s performance has demonstrated readiness for higher responsibility and pledged to support his aspiration to succeed Makinde in 2027.

New Telegraph reports that Ogundoyin represents Ibarapa East State constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
