APC Lost Senator Kabiru Gaya To ADC In Kano

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State has once more lost another big political wig, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, who represented Kano South Senatorial District in the 9th Senate.

New Telegraph reports that the resignation letter dated April 5, 2026, was addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State, indicating that his decision takes immediate effect.

Gaya said his decision followed “careful reflection and wide consultation,” noting that leaving the APC aligns with the best interests of his constituents and his personal convictions.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to the party for the platform it provided me and for the cooperation and camaraderie extended over the years,” he stated.

The letter was formally acknowledged by the Gaya Arewa Ward Chairman, Adam A. Adam.

Speaking to journalists on his next political move on Tuesday, Gaya confirmed his defection to the ADC, adding that he maintains a cordial relationship with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

He noted that they are set to work together towards strengthening and ensuring the success of the ADC in Kano State.

Gaya’s defection to ADC follows the earlier defections of the State 2023 Gubernatorial Candidate of APC, Nasiru Gawuna, who left APC mid-last week.
