The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade 1, has dismissed insinuations of rifts with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa 1), describing his relationship with both leaders as cordial.

While talking about his recent absence at some state functions like the “Oyo @50, the Alaafin said it was due to health challenges, noting that he had been indisposed for some time.
“There is no form of misunderstanding anyway. I have a good relationship with my governor. I have been indisposed for some time now. If there is any function, I will attend,” he said.
The monarch also debunked rumours of strained relations with the Olubadan, insisting that both of them maintain mutual respect and understanding. “My relationship with the Olubadan is cordial. Some people lie online to join the popular bandwagon. There is no misunderstanding,” he said.
