OAU Receives 50 Buses, 30 Tricycles From Oluremi Tinubu


…Updates Students On Operational Schedules

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has received 50 buses and 30 tricycles donated by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to cushion the effects of transportation challenges confronting the students and other members of the university community on campus.

The university announced the receipt of the buses and tricycles in a press release issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Abiodun Olarewaju.

He stated that this gesture by the First Lady to her alma mater is a classic demonstration of her unwavering commitment to the welfare, mobility and overall well-being of students, adding that the provision of these vehicles is expected to significantly ease transportation challenges within the campus.

The university authority, which also expressed gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, the Ooni of Ife, for his pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of these vehicles, however, stressed that his continued royal support for education development and student welfare is deeply appreciated.

On update on the deployment and full operation of the buses and tricycles, which had already commenced, Olarewaju said: “The management wants to use this medium to kindly appeal to our students and the entire university community to please bear with us regarding any perceived inadequacies in the current operations.”

He added, “As with any new system, this initiative is still a work in progress. Necessary adjustments, route optimisation, scheduling improvements and operational enhancements are actively being undertaken to ensure efficiency, safety and maximum benefit for all users.

“We assure our students that all concerns raised will be carefully reviewed and accordingly addressed in due course.

“The management remains fully committed to delivering a seamless and effective transportation system that meets the needs of the university community as expected of, and is applicable to the 21st-century universities around the world.

“We appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of all stakeholders as we continue to improve this service for the benefit of us all.”
