Pushes for Free, Fair APC Primaries

The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Sen. Shehu Buba Umar, has reaffirmed his intention to contest the Bauchi State governorship election in 2027 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Yimir Hotel, Bauchi, the senator expressed confidence in his chances of clinching the party’s ticket and emerging victorious in the general election.

Senator Buba, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, called on the APC leadership to ensure a transparent, free, and fair primary process, stressing that candidates must emerge based on merit, capacity, and adherence to party guidelines.

“I remain firmly in the race and committed to providing effective leadership for the people of Bauchi State,” he said.

The lawmaker also expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to guarantee a level playing field for all aspirants within the party.

Stakeholders at the meeting emphasised the need for unity within the party and cautioned against imposing candidates, noting that any consensus arrangement must involve broad consultation.

They pledged to support the outcome of a credible primary process.
