A’Ibom Police Assures Comprehensive Security Measures


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reassured citizens that comprehensive security measures have been fully activated across the State, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to prevent and combat all forms of violent crimes.

DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, in a press statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, said as part of these measures, the Command has intensified intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrols, and strategically deployed personnel across all Local Government Areas.

According to her, “High-risk areas, including farmlands, forests, waterways, and major access routes, are now under continuous surveillance through coordinated day and night patrols.

She added, “Special operations, including intelligence-based stop-and-search duties, have been emplaced at critical points to intercept criminal elements and prevent any form of security breach. Tactical units and patrol teams have also been repositioned to ensure maximum visibility and rapid response to emergencies.

“The Command has further strengthened collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and coordinated joint operations across the State.

“In addition, aggressive community engagement and sensitisation campaigns are ongoing. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate fully with security agencies.

“Traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, and youth groups are urged to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information.

The Command assures the public that all reports will be treated with utmost urgency and confidentiality.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has expressed profound appreciation to the good and peace-loving people of Akwa Ibom State for their unwavering support, cooperation, and partnership with the Police.

The Command notes that the remarkable successes recorded in crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and operational breakthroughs across the State are largely attributable to the trust, timely information, and collaboration extended by members of the public, community leaders, youths, and other critical stakeholders.

“This synergy has significantly strengthened the Command’s capacity to protect lives and property and maintain public order.” He averred.
