A group, under the aegis of Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Watch, has condemned what it described as a dangerous attempt by desperate politicians employing their familiar tactics to drag the name of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq into an unfounded allegation aimed at destabilising the State’s APC.
The group, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Hon. Aliu Mashood Ajao, pointed to a recent story by a Kwara‑based outlet, known for its consultancy ties to a serving Senator, claiming that the Governor had allegedly mentioned his preferred successor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The report, according to the group, undercut itself by adding that: “This development has introduced a layer of tension within the ruling party in the state, as multiple governorship hopefuls continue to campaign.
“Some aspirants, who are already aware of this alleged development, said lack of transparency is fueling frustration and might eventually affect the party’s chances,” – a line that revealed the agenda behind the unfounded claim.
Kwara APC Media Watch, therefore, warned the sponsors of such innuendos to desist from acts that could stoke tension and destabilise the party as it approaches primaries, adding that the Governor, as party leader, has assured a level playing field for every aspirant seeking the APC gubernatorial ticket in Kwara State.
