Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai, popularly known as Lily Afe, has expressed disappointment after being omitted from the Best Supporting Actress category at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The actress, who played Idia in Kemi Adetiba’s Netflix movie “To Kill a Monkey,” said on social media that although her rejection wasn’t surprising, it nevertheless hurt.

“I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason. I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear: nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. Her acting was. You guys can eat your award”, she wrote.
New Telegraph recalls that widespread praise was given to Lily Afe’s performance in “To Kill a Monkey,” especially for her usage of pidgin English.
Linda Ejiofor, Bisola Aiyeola, Sola Sobowale, and Funke Akindele are among the candidates in the Best Supporting Actress category.
The 12th AMVCA ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2026.
