UniCloud Africa appoints Krishnan Ranganath as new CEO

UniCloud Africa Limited, a leading pan-African cloud platform focused on advancing digital sovereignty, has appointed Dr Krishnan Ranganath as its Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Ranganath, widely known as Krish, brings extensive experience in building and scaling digital infrastructure across Africa, with a strong focus on operational excellence. His appointment comes as UniCloud Africa launches enterprise-grade sovereign cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in six key markets: Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, Senegal, and Mozambique, with plans to expand into Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Ivory Coast.

Operating under the mission ‘One Cloud, One Africa’, UniCloud Africa provides governments and enterprises with a compliant, low-latency cloud alternative to offshore providers. The platform is designed to deliver scalable and resilient infrastructure tailored to Africa’s unique economic and environmental conditions.

“UniCloud sits at the epicentre of Africa’s cloud evolution. We are committed to deploying 100 per cent sovereign infrastructure across the continent,” Krish said in a statement. “My focus is on driving high-growth partnerships and scaling the next generation of resilient, sustainable cloud infrastructure to accelerate Africa’s digital ecosystem.”

He added that the company would deploy GPUs in select economies depending on market potential and demand. While acknowledging challenges such as AI integration and the green energy transition, Krish emphasised the opportunities as even greater, expressing eagerness to collaborate with partners and customers to redefine Africa’s digital frontier.

The Co-founder and outgoing CEO, Ladi Okuneye, who remains on the board, said, “As we enter this new chapter of growth, I am confident that Krish’s experience and insight into Africa’s digital landscape will add immense value. His technical depth and regional knowledge make him the ideal leader to drive UniCloud Africa forward.”

Prior to joining UniCloud Africa, Krish served as Regional Executive, West Africa, at Africa Data Centres until last month.
