ASHA MFB empowers women entrepreneurs at IWD celebration

ASHA Microfinance Bank marked the 2026 International Women’s Day with a vibrant community celebration at Mushin Market, reinforcing its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and supporting the communities it serves.

The event, which drew a large turnout of traders, market leaders, and local business owners on Monday, underscored the bank’s steadfast commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable development within the communities it serves.

Hosted by the Baba Oja of Mushin Market, Alhaji Bolaji Awoyemi, and the Iyaloja of Mushin Market, Alhaja Sodiq Borokini, the day was defined by a dual focus on community welfare and enhanced financial inclusion. A major highlight of the celebration, according to a statement on Tuesday, was the official unveiling of renowned actress and film producer Jaiye Kuti as the new Brand Ambassador for ASHA Microfinance Bank. The strategic appointment is designed to strengthen the bank’s connection with entrepreneurs, particularly women, across Nigerian local markets.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of ASHA Microfinance Bank, Funmilola Paseda-Oladoyinbo, said, “Women are central to economic development, especially within market communities. At ASHA, we believe that empowering women entrepreneurs strengthens families, businesses, and the broader economy.

This celebration is our way of honouring their resilience and supporting their growth.”

Aligning with the 2026 International Women’s Day theme, ‘Give to Gain’, the bank also conducted a free medical outreach for the Mushin Market community. The initiative provided essential health support to traders and residents, reflecting the bank’s holistic approach to corporate social responsibility.

In her remarks, Kuti commended the dedication of the market women and encouraged them to utilise the bank’s financial solutions to scale their ventures. “I am honoured to represent ASHA Microfinance Bank,” Kuti stated. “I urge my fellow women to leverage these financial services to expand and strengthen their businesses, as we all contribute to the collective prosperity of our nation.”

The event served as a reinforcement of ASHA Microfinance Bank’s mission to expand financial inclusion and drive community development through accessible and responsible financial services.
