Power Oil Rewards Top Runners at Lagos Marathon 2026

Power Oil, a leading cooking oil brand, has demonstrated its commitment to healthy living beyond the kitchen by creating an exclusive running community for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2026.

A statement from the firm on Saturday stated that the initiative, which culminated on February 14, saw hundreds of Power Oil community members participate in the marathon after weeks of structured training, with the top three finishers receiving cash prizes totalling N500,000.

Unlike traditional brand sponsorships, Power Oil adopted a hands-on approach by building the Power Oil Exclusive Running Community weeks before the marathon. The community engaged in weekly training sessions, received professional coaching, and benefited from nutritional guidance aligned with the brand’s heart-health advocacy.

“We wanted to do more than put our logo on a banner,” said Roland Akpe, Marketing Manager, Oils and Fats Portfolio at Tolaram. “We wanted to run alongside Nigerians on their wellness journey. That’s what our brand has always been about: powering healthy living from the kitchen to the streets.”

This initiative aligns with Power Oil’s 13-year commitment to heart health in Nigeria.

Through programs like WalkHeartOn, which commemorates World Heart Day annually, the brand has consistently positioned itself as more than a cooking oil—it is a partner in Nigerian families’ wellness journeys.

The Power Oil Exclusive Running Community represents the brand’s most immersive health initiative to date, translating advocacy into direct action and community building.

While the marathon has concluded, the Power Oil Running Community continues to thrive, with plans for future fitness activities and ongoing support for members committed to healthy living.

As Nigeria grapples with rising rates of lifestyle-related health conditions, initiatives like this demonstrate the role brands can play in promoting preventive health through accessible, community-based programmes.
