Bensàlamode Debuts ‘The Outlier’ Collection

Bensàlamode, a pioneering name in upscale fashion, has unveiled its latest collection, The Outlier – a bold statement in design and craftsmanship. Merging innovation with meticulous detail, the collection challenges conventional fashion norms and marks a departure from mainstream stylistic trends.

Inspired by a spirit of individuality and creative defiance, The Outlier features a curated selection of avant-garde pieces that fuse contemporary aesthetics with timeless sophistication.

Focusing on menswear, the collection showcases meticulously crafted Kaftans, Agbadas, and Trads—each piece a testament to Bensàlamode’s dedication to blending cultural heritage with modern design.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday, Bensàlamode’s Creative director, Benjamin Umeojiaku, described innovation as “seeing old things with new eyes and finding new ways to do old things.”

“This ethos is evident in “The Outlier,” where traditional African silhouettes are elevated through the bold use of sequins and multi-coloured threads—materials not typically associated with masculine garments. This daring approach redefines the boundaries of men’s fashion, offering a fresh perspective on timeless styles.

“The name The Outlier reflects the essence of this collection,” Umeojiaku added. “Incorporating elements like sequins into male kaftans steps outside traditional sartorial norms. We aimed to redefine the boundaries of men’s fashion—crafting pieces that exude confidence, creativity, and the courage to stand apart.”

He further explained, “Bensàlamode’s creative vision goes beyond clothing. Like a Basquiat with buttons, it’s about creating wearable art. Fashion is art. Just as a masterpiece can stir deep emotions in its viewers, fashion holds the same power. While some find satisfaction in wearing great clothes, others are fulfilled simply by witnessing beauty worn by someone else.”

This artistic philosophy is evident in “The Outlier,” where the intricate detailing of sequins and coloured threads reflects a mastery of design that transcends functionality and ventures into the realm of artistic expression. Through this collection, Bensàlamode invites admirers and wearers alike to experience the impact of high fashion.

“We dream of a future where the Kaftan becomes mainstream, embraced even by Western corporate culture as a symbol of elegance and innovation. This collection is a bold step towards that future, merging unexpected materials with refined design to redefine masculinity.”

Founded in 2010, Bensàlamode has emerged as a trendsetter in the fashion industry, celebrated for its innovative approach and unwavering commitment to excellence. The brand’s unique selling points lie in its professionalism, fanatic devotion to perfection, and immense pride in prompt service delivery.7
