Professor honoured for contributing to cancer care


The Healthcare Business Academy for Africa has awarded the Chief Executive Officer of Lakeshore Cancer Centre, Prof. Chukwumere Nwogu, the HBA HERO Award for Cancer Care in recognition of his groundbreaking work in cancer treatment and advocacy in Nigeria.

Prof. Nwogu, celebrated for his innovative strategies, has significantly improved patient outcomes and widened access to essential cancer care. His transformative efforts have inspired healthcare professionals across the globe, setting new standards for cancer treatment in the country.

The prestigious award was presented on Monday at the Lakeshore Cancer Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was received on Prof. Nwogu’s behalf by the medical director, Dr. Oge Ilegbune, and the head of corporate affairs, Bindiya Chugani, at the centre.

Wale Olajubu, Executive Director of the Healthcare Business Academy, presented the award alongside Esther Ekerendu, HBA’s Head of Programmes.

During the ceremony, HBA commended Prof. Nwogu’s dedication to raising cancer awareness and promoting early detection. These efforts align with the academy’s mission to foster sustainable innovation and growth in Africa’s healthcare industry.
