Four people suffered injuries following Sunday’s attack on Imoga in the Akoko Edo local Government Area in Edo State by gunmen said to be herders.
It was learnt that the herders were told to vacate the area with their families after one Smaila Ibrahim and another member of his kidnapping gang were apprehended and handed over to the police.
A victim, Mallam Jamila, a Hausa cow merchant based in Ibillo, identified both men who were known members of the Fulani community in Imoga.
However, one Monday from Imoga, a man of over 60 years, who went to buy an ox at Ibillo for the burial of his elder brother, was arrested and accused as one of those who came to Fulani camps in Ekor to destroy Fulani property.
Police shifted him to the Igarra Area Command where the Area Commander investigated the case and later granted him bail.
However, in a video made available to journalists yesterday by the Coordinator, Movement for the Advancement of Akoko Edo People (MAAP), Bode Ekundayo, one resident lost two toes while other had cut on their body after they were attacked with machetes by the herders.
